Most people are able to organize their lives around a relatively predictable schedule when it comes to their work. You might be teaching a business English course at a local college a few times a week at the same time or be on the regular grind of working your way into a downtown Tampa Bay office to punch in from nine to five. Some jobs work on different hours, however, and require those who work there to come in at different times throughout the day. If you're a nurse or working in some factory than you might need to work shift work.
One of the big challenges to shift work is that you're usually not on the same schedule every week. You might be working midnights as a cable cutter for a couple of days in a row and then have the evening shift next. This means it's difficult to make solid plans and keep consistent with the rest of your life. You will not always be sleeping, eating, or running errands at the same time. This can be confusing if you're not a very organized person and can have a toll on your body and mind.
Most people working shift work are not on the same schedule as the rest of the people in their lives. You might be married to someone who works in a Toronto SEO office and has more regular hours and barely get to see them when you're working nights or evenings. Many of the jobs that require someone to work shift work are also those that are required every day at all hours. If you're working in healthcare or as a police officer, for example, you will likely be required to work some holidays on top of the strange hours.
It is not impossible to adjust to a shift work schedule. If you're working at a Morristown taxi service you might like that you're allowed to sleep in some days and that you're only required to work three or four days a week thanks to twelve-hour shifts. Those working shift work usually have some days off during the week, which can make it easier to schedule things like doctor's appointments and bank meetings during regular business hours without missing work. While some people might find this sort of life about hectic, others get used to it quickly and would not trade it for a more conventional schedule whether they would be working in Revit training or as a teacher.
